| Procedures
and Process Information Today Written
procedures and process information
work to improve a process only if they are used.
Currently workers have four choices when seeking
information that is in a procedure or manual.
They must:
· Work
solely from memory of their training
· Go
to a central location to pick up a working copy
of
a procedure or form
· Print
or review one from a central computer/printer
or
Local Area Network (LAN), or
· Find
a controlled hard copy themselves to copy, use,
and
dispose of when complete.
The
Reality of Information Use
But will they
use the information developed
for the process? All of the previous choices
assume that the procedures, forms and drawings
are accurate, workers are well trained, and a
change management system and a document control
system are in place (and both are working
flawlessly). Achieving those goals is difficult
enough. The reality is that employees need an
easier way to access current information.
The
AntiEntropics, Inc. Approach
AEI and
our strategic alliance partners - PenFact Inc.,
Xybernaut Corporation, and Bear River Associates
- can combine procedure delivery techniques,
networking software and hardware that will
fulfill all these needs. The latest technology
allows a breakthrough in the way we will do work
in the future. Personal digital assistants (PDA),
hardened, intrinsically safe computers, wearable
computers, and wireless networking all combine to
make this possible. Any type of procedure, form,
or document can be accessed, including:

Interactive
Electronic Document Management
A touch on
the screen or keyboard loads the
procedure or form and presents each step with
notes and cautions in an easy to read format.
Procedures can be designed to help users make
decisions and troubleshoot based on current
information. Other features can be added to make
your system even more advanced. By converting
paper forms to interactive forms, the field
hardware can be used for downloading,
documenting, and reporting maintenance
inspections, environmental inspections,
industrial hygiene monitoring, safety inspection
results as the data is collected.
Pilot
Project Design and Implementation
Upon request,
estimates can be provided for
designing and implementing a pilot project. The
return on investment formula can be determined
and measured during a specified period. In some
cases, use of handheld and wearable technology
has increased worker productivity by a factor of
ten and more.
